The new 2014 Mazda3 has won over 130 international awards to make it one of the most impressive and popular vehicles on the market. One of the most prestigious awards include an IIHS Top Safety Pick, Canadian Car of the Year and Car and Driver’s 10 Best Cars.
Having an IIHS Top Safety Pick takes a lot of work. To win this award, vehicles must score well in five different tests and receive a rating of good, acceptable, marginal or poor. The vehicle must receive a rating of good in at least four of the categories and cannot receive less than acceptable in the other one. The 2014 Mazda3 tested as Good in all categories with possibility of minor or moderate injuries in only a few areas.
Winning Canadian Car of the Year is sponsored by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada. The 2014 Mazda3 won the Best New Small Car (under $21k). In this competition, there are several criteria which each vehicle is given an overall score in every category. For instance, the outer appearance and cabin of the car is rated and the Mazda3 got the highest score for both areas.
The 2014 Mazda3 is one of Car and Driver’s 10 Best Cars for the 12th time in a row. According to Car and Driver, it is the ergonomics and finesse of the cars that make them a stand out. Its fuel economy is another reason it made an appearance on the list.
