If you are looking for a more efficient way to use energy, then Mazda has the answer for you – the i-ELOOP Technology. A lightweight capacitor saves engine power and boosts fuel economy via regenerative braking which stores kinetic energy created during deceleration.
Mazda’s i-ELOOP (Intelligent Energy Loop) regenerative braking system is such an innovative and simple alternative to other hybrid systems. It uses an electric double-layer capacitor carried in the engine compartment behind the left front wheel to convert the kinetic energy captured when the vehicle brakes or decelerates into electricity, storing and supplying it to power the vehicle’s electronic components.
The i-ELOOP can be found in the 2014 MAzda6 and is also compatible to be put into all Mazda vehicles. “We’ve talked about it long enough, and now we are incredibly excited to officially introduce North America to our latest next-generation product, the 2014 Mazda6,” said Kory Koreeda, president, Mazda Canada. “The Mazda6 is a showcase of our latest engineering accomplishments under our SKYACTIV Technology umbrella, with the SKYACTIV-D clean diesel engine, i-ELOOP and our new suite of i-ACTIVSENSE safety technology and we’re just getting started.”
i-ELOOP is the world’s first capacitor-based brake energy regeneration system to provide power to all the electrical mechanisms in a vehicle. Talk about truly changing the automotive industry!
